Life from Death

The earthly life of God through Jesus Christ gives proof of the greatness of God.  There were many more miracles, signs and wonders then could be documented. (John 21:25) People witnessed healing for the blind, the sick, and the lame.  The dead were raised and returned to their families.  People not only saw, but they told others!  Families rejoiced and wept and praised God for the miracles they experienced in their lives. They were first century witnesses to the miracles of God.

BY FAITH WE KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE!  JUST AS PETER TOLD HIS LISTENERS IN SCRIPTURE! (Acts 2:22b)

What are the signs and wonders you have experienced in your own life?  What is the proof of God’s existence in the events and in the people in your own life?  Today, yesterday, last week…?

Jesus came to earth, worked and walked among people and then sacrificed His life to save us from our sin.  This was no accident; it was all part of God’s eternal plan of salvation for us.  Such great Love is almost too amazing to comprehend! But the best part of all is that DEATH COULD NOT HOLD JESUS!  Death has NO power over Jesus!  God is greater than the powers of wickedness at work in this world.

Today is the day of COVID19, bringing new words and phrases that have become a recognized and familiar part of our everyday discourse.  Social Distancing. Don’t Touch your Face.  Wash Your Hands for at least 30 seconds.  Flatten the Curve.  PPE (personal protective equipment).  Quarantine.  Self-isolation.  Ventilators. N95 masks.

Life as we knew it has changed. Virtual gatherings occur on Zoom, WebEx, Google Hangouts and more.   We educate our children at home with the guidance of teachers, we visit our doctors with telemedicine whenever possible.  We take turns going into the grocery store, standing 6 or more feet apart while we wait to get in, perhaps we wear masks and/or gloves, or we shop online. Either way we wipe down what we bring into the house as soon as we get it.  We sanitize doorknobs and light switches, and counter tops and who knows what else?

We miss those who are not with us and we worry about family members or loved ones far away.  We pray and pray and pray some more. Why?  Because God can deliver us from this! God is the only One who can!   Life may never go back to normal, but perhaps this is a time to examine what the word “normal” means.  I believe that for most of us that definition will be different.  We have more time to think about what is important, more time to read, study, pray and really listen.  We need to ask God to speak to our hearts.  He will speak in His time, and in His own way.  How will we respond?

This is a new way of life born out of great loss.  Let’s do our best to bring God’s new gifts into the world of the future.   The future is rapidly becoming the present and God’s blessings are new and fresh every morning.  God is at work, let’s work with Him and be the 21st century’s witnesses of his miraculous deeds in our lives even in these adverse conditions.  What has God done for you lately?  Besides give up His earthly life for the salvation of your soul?  As if that wasn’t enough, He continues to be actively involved in your life through all of this.  Thank God He is!

God Keep You

Today and always.
